All the activities should relate to one or more of these
purposes. Cub Scouting uses specific methods to do this.
Such as, being a part of a small
group of six to eight boys. In this way they are able to learn sportsmanship and good citizenship through den meetings.
Having a recognition and advancement plan can provide fun, a sense of personal achievement as they earn badges, and
a stronger understanding of family as adult family members work with boys on advancement projects.
The uniform
is a large part of Character Development. The uniform helps to build pride, loyalty, and self-respect. Wearing
the uniform to all den and pack meetings and activities also encourages a neat appearance, a sense of belonging, and good
behavior.
Another method which helps to develop the character of a Cub Scout are, the Cub Scouting Ideals.
The ideals are: The Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack, and the Cub Scout sign, handshake, motto, and salute all
teach good citizenship and contribute to a boy's sense of belonging.
